Awareness and Welcome to Dream Land

A fab little book, perfect for any child going through the ponseti method of treatment.

Now my little girl had a rough start to her Ponseti treatment and had to start from scratch when we moved to a different hospital when we got a second opinion.  She was 9 months old.

Awareness is the key. From plaster casts to boots and bars with a couple of little operations in between.

I have just recently purchased this fab book for my kindle.
Written and illustrated by the lovely Catherine Brown, (plus my name is in the back too - famous lol)

I have now started to read this to my daughter as part of her bedtime routine as the story tells of a little boy who does not like his boots and bars.

The author also has a child going through the Ponseti treatment and she has hit the nail on the head when it comes to us parents trying to keep those boots and bars on.

Fabulous and fun reading for me and KK loves it too.

Can't wait for the next book in the series.

You can buy it here and is well worth the pennies. I love this book. Well Done Catherine :)

The Trouble with Boots and Bars is.....

My amazing nearly two and a half year old has always been a
little strong willed. Even as a baby!

We are currently doing the Ponseti Method for Talipes (club foot)

KK is supposed to wear her boots and bars for 12 to 14 hours a day.

So last night was one of the worse night we have ever had with her and her little fights
and strops to keep these boots and bars from coming off.

It was never an issue when she wore them for 23 hours a day but the moment she started having free time during the day, those temper tantrums appeared out of nowhere. OOPS she is trouble.

KK fell asleep last night at 7pm so it was great to carry her upstairs to bed and put her boots and bars on with no fighting or screaming.  SSHHHHHH all was quiet.
9pm, she woke crying out, wanting a hug. As I tried to sooth her to sleep - those dreaded words came out of her cute little mouth. 'Mumma off please, don't like' - this makes me so sad :( Her little hands tugging at the straps of her mitchell boots. After 10 minutes, she cried herself back to sleep.
Her sweet little cries carried through the house again at 10.11pm, same little words, same little legs thrashing about and she cried herself to sleep again and by 10.30pm, fast asleep.
Sadly this continued every half hour until finally at 6.30am I scooped her up and bought her downstairs to start our day.

The trouble with boots and bars is.... Mummy does not sleep :)

An extremely tired little munchkin today. Doctors for her later :)
